One hour performance by Nova Melancholia. 

Scattered impressions of Baudelaire's "Fleurs du mal" at an appartment in Exarheia, Athens. Τhe show is mournful and devoted to the memory of Vassilis Noulas' mother and to the memory of our friend Vassiliki Dimou. 

We are many, or quite a few, in a small apartment with a balcony. We make up our faces, we go in and out; we get bored, we camp in front of the mirror; we disguise ourselves, we flash the lights. We recite poems in French. It's like a wait. For something that does not come, but we make it come ourselves: and if it is fake, it doesn't matter. It can be better than the real.

Ma jeunesse ne fut qu'un ténébreux orage / Traversé çà et là par de brillants soleils / Le tonnerre et la pluie ont fait un tel ravage / Qu'il reste en mon jardin bien peu de fruits vermeils. (L’ENNEMI)    

Quand le ciel bas et lourd pèse comme un couvercle (SPLEEN IV) / C'est l'Ennui ! - l'oeil chargé d'un pleur involontaire (AU LECTEUR) / Pluviôse irrité contre la ville entière (SPLEEN I)  

Et je te donnerai, ma brune / Des baisers froids comme la lune / Et des caresses de serpent / Autour d'une fosse rampant / Quand viendra le matin livide / Tu trouveras ma place vide / Où jusqu'au soir il fera froid. (LE REVENANT)

Je suis comme le roi d’un pays pluvieux / Riche, mais impuissant, jeune et pourtant très-vieux (SPLEEN III) / Ô Satan, prends pitié de ma longue misère! (LES LITANIES DU SATAN) / Par toi je change l'or en fer / Et le paradis en enfer (ALCHIMIE DE LA DOULEUR)

La sottise, l'erreur, le péché, la lésine / Occupent nos esprits et travaillent nos corps (AU LECTEUR)

Je te frapperai sans colère / Et sans haine, comme un boucher (L’HEAUTONTIMOROUMENOS)
